So Satisfying

Long-exposure star trails swirl above a rugged canyon at night, creating a hypnotic vortex of light against towering rock formations and a river below.

The Dolores River runs through a canyon that is home to something called The Hanging Flume, which is a ridiculous story in my humble opinion but it’s definitely worth a read.

This was such a satisfying shot.

Not only did the composition turn out great, but the foreground also came out perfect.

Also, the time lapses of both the star trails AND the sunrise came out beautiful. Sunrise time lapses are not easy.

That doesn’t happen often. Especially when you’re new to something. This was my second time shooting the North Star, and I wasn’t entirely certain I knew what I was doing. But you have to go out and try. Sometimes it’s a flop, but most of the time it falls somewhere in the middle. It might not be stellar, but it’s something you can work with.

Sometimes, though… sometimes it hits the spot.
