Just the Two of Us

I love telling stories. And I love creative collaboration.

I also absolutely love absurdity.

This video was made by two people. We wrote it, shot it, edited it, and acted in it. What was suppose to be a documentation of a two week road trip turned into a music video about the power of music breaking barriers, or something like that.

To be fair, the music itself was created by our friend and then remixed by someone else, and my father, who wanted to have his name in the credits, contributed to the cost of a certain drone that I crashed just before we were gonna shoot the big fight scene. So technically, there were a few more hands involved than just us two. Regardless, it was a lot of fun.

As creatives, we tend to have a problem with perfectionism. We want to create masterpieces. I know this. I feel it. I’m struggling to write this post right now; to fully, accurately, and engagingly express myself. But that saying about the journey being more important than the destination really is at the heart of creativity. For me, it really isn’t about the finish piece, it’s about the effort to make it. It’s about freedom to make a mess; To create problems that you spends hours trying to solve; it’s about the freedom to play.

Art is not what’s important. What’s important is the act of creating it.
